Aperitivo und Gespräch

ENGL.

It is one of the most famous and representative works of Italian neo-realism cinema. It is the film that brought international fame to Anna Magnani, co-starring with Aldo Fabrizi, here too in one of his most famous performances.
It is the first film in the Trilogy of the Antifascist War directed by Rossellini, to be followed by Paisà (1946) and Germania anno zero (1948). Due to its great success, the film has long defined the image of the German occupation of Rome and the Roman Resistance in the collective imagination.
The film was presented in competition at the 1946 Cannes Film Festival, where it won the Grand Prix for Best Film.

It also received an Oscar nomination for Best Original Screenplay and won two Silver Ribbons, for Best Director and Best Supporting Actress (Anna Magnani). It was later included in the list of 100 Italian films to be saved, created with the aim of highlighting "100 films that changed the country's collective memory between 1942 and 1978".
The film in its restored version by the "Progetto Rossellini" (formed by the Istituto Luce Cinecittà, the Fondazione Cineteca di Bologna and the Cineteca Nazionale of the Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia) was screened in over 70 cinemas in April 2014 on the occasion of Liberation Day.
