Spectre - to the End of the Earth + Symphony on Skismit Carla Braun-Elwert in Anwesenheit und anschliessend Gespräch im Oval an beiden Tagen!

Spectre - to the End of the Earth, UK 2019, R: Alastair Lee, Leo Houlding mit Leo Houlding, Mark Sedon, Jean Burgun, 49 Min, OV (eng)

1000 miles, 200+ kgs, 65 days, 3 mates, 1 mountain. In fact the most remote mountain on Earth: Spectre, in the Gothic Range of the Transantarctic Mountains. The only other time human beings have set foot here was on a U.S. government - sponsored scientific expedition with associated logistical support.

This time around that support is lacking and the plan, by design, is ambitious; it requires kite skiing on an almost 2,000 km round trip, towing gear on sleds, just to reach this highly technical peak. The three expedition members battle logistics, distance, wind and no-wind, frostbite, crevasses and wrong turns. Whod have thought Id actually get here one day? says expedition leader Leo Houlding, as the team closes in on the objective. He can be forgiven for scarcely believing where he finds himself:we are the most remote people on Planet Earth right now.

Symphony on Skis, NZ 2017, R: Carla Braun-Elwert mit Carla Braun-Elwert, Elke Braun-Elwert, Axel Reiser, Jochen Reiser, Keith Payne, 60 Min, OV (eng) mit Carla Braun-Elwert in Anwesenheit und anschliessend Gespräch im Oval

An adventurous ski tour of two sisters, who follow the tracks of their father, across the pristine landscapes of New Zealand. 30 years ago, Gottlieb Braun-Elwert set out on an incredible expedition. He traversed the major glaciers of the Southern Alps, covering 40km and 4000 vertical meters, from the heart of the South Island to the West Coast in just 18 hours. A route of astonishing beauty, immense freedom, breathtaking vistas and dealing with the challenges of an untamed wilderness. He called this route Symphony on Skis. Now, his daughters Carla, Elke and a small team of adventurers embark on the same journey. This film is a homage to their late father who found a love and home in New Zealand's Southern Alps.
