Mexico Scope & Mobile Kino Present: VIVOS | A Film by Ai Weiwei ENG.

Ai Weiwei’s Vivos captures the human impact of Mexico’s ongoing crisis of forced disappearances against the background of Mexico’s “war on drugs.” In 2014, a bus of college students from the Ayotzinapa College in the Mexican state of Guerrero was attacked by masked assailants. Six students were killed, dozens wounded, and 43 forcibly disappeared by drug cartels; the crime was covered up by the state.

Through the poignant stories of families seeking justice for the disappeared, Vivos depicts the psychological and emotional toll of endemic violence on Mexican society
