France 2018, D: Gaspar Noé with Sofia Boutella, 96Min, OmeU
French with English Subtitles CLIMAX | Preview Screening presented in partnership with Mobile Kino & Alamode Films
"You despised I Stand Alone. You hated Irreversible. You loathed Enter The Void. You cursed Love. Now try Climax." Mobile Kino is excited to present the new film from controversial and iconic filmmaker Gaspar Noé.
The talented director is a Mobile Kino favorite who is both hated and praised for his work on ENTER THE VOID, IRREVERSIBLE and LOVE 3D. Headlining film festivals and dividing cinema audiences seems to be a hobby for Noé, who has intentionally created cinematic experiences that are at times difficult to digest with open eyes.
After more praise and criticism at this years' Cannes Film Festival, the director was happy to brag to press about the few people who walked out before the end of the screening: "I normally have more walk-outs". For those who can handle it, Gaspar Noé is known for big screen visually stunning out-of-body experiences that take the audience places never imagined.
Mobile Kino has had a long history of presenting Gaspar Noe films in Berlin with many Sold Out events of all his previous work. To celebrate the latest release Mobile Kino has booked the main theatre in the beautiful and historic BABYLON cinema.
CLIMAX (French with English Subtitles) From director Gaspar Noé (Irreversible; Enter the Void; Love) comes a hypnotic, hallucinatory, and ultimately hair-raising depiction of a party that descends into delirium over the course of one wintry night.
In Climax, a troupe of young dancers gathers in a remote and empty school building to rehearse. Following an unforgettable opening performance lit by virtuoso cinematographer Benoît Debie (Spring Breakers; Enter the Void) and shot by Noé himself, the troupe begins an all-night celebration that turns nightmarish as the dancers discover they've been pounding cups of sangria laced with potent LSD.
Tracking their journey from jubilation to chaos and full-fledged anarchy, Noé observes crushes, rivalries, and violence amid a collective psychedelic meltdown. Starring Sofia Boutella (Atomic Blonde) and a cast of professional dancers, Climax is Noé's most brazen and visionary statement yet.
