Albert Serra follows Peruvian star matador Andrés Roca Rey from the quiet waiting in his hotel room through the dressing ritual and journey to the arena, the bullfight itself and its aftermath. Without interviews or explanatory commentary, the film observes the preparations, rituals and violent encounters from immediate proximity.

The result is a raw, hypnotic visual ritual about beauty, violence, death and the solitude of matador and bull.
