Esther, a young woman of indigenous origin, conceals her identity as a member of the Sami minority in order to avoid racial discrimination as a member of her tribe. Then she suddenly finds herself in the midst of demonstrations against a large dam project that endangers the Sami area. She learns to fight for the cause of the Sami and to stand by their roots.
